Many miscarriages--when to stop trying Can't Post

Hello....my husband and I saw Dr. Yee in January.... After reviewing our history he suggested that because of my age (40) and the fact that we have a healthy 2 year old (good pregnancy) that we should keep trying on our own with no medical intervention. In the last year (since July 2009) I've had four miscarriages (one a partial molar). Currently I'm about to have a D&C. The process is very emotional, as I"m sure you know so we are not sure how long to continue trying on our own.
I've been on chlomid for three of the four recent pregnancies and not sure if we should continue with the drug.. I'm assuming statistically the best answer for us may be adoption or possible donor eggs. Can you answer the following? 1) when to stop using chlomid 2) how long to wait between miscarriages/or D&C's to start trying again and 3) what is the best way to research the donor process? Thank you for your time.

Hi:

What you need is specific answers to these good questions which I don't have enough informatio to do here. Since there have been additional miscarriages since you saw Dr. Yee the best thing to do would be to come back with information about what has happened since you saw him for a reconsult.

Good luck.

Thanks for replying. I understand you can't speak specifically to my case, but generally speaking do you know how long is the use of Chlomid safe, or how long to wait between miscarriages before trying? And also a direction to look into donor programs in the meantime? Thanks again.

I'm afraid since its only been one miscarriage since we met with Dr. Yee that he won't have any "new" information for us. As you know its just a process that we would like to hurry through! Thanks

Hi:

With clomiphene it's not really a matter of safe but effectiveness. After three cycles, generally it's not likely to be effective. After most miscarriages one can try after the first natural cycle. A list of egg donor agencies can be obtained from the office.
