Is there a conception-friendly lubricant?

According to a study reported in the May 2013 issue of Fertility & Sterility, the isotonic lubricant Pre-Seed did not compromise quality.

This is important because of the wide use of vaginal lubricants to decrease vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse. In fact, women trying to conceive may have increased intimate dryness associated with the stress associated with timed intercourse during ovulation. Stress may also result in difficulty or inability to collect a specimen from the man for testing or IUI or IVF procedures.

Most common lubricants have been reported to be sperm-toxic. Numerous studies have consistently shown a sperm toxic effect, even in those which are spermicidal-agent free such as Astroglide, Replens, Surgi-Lube and KY Jelly.

This study examined sperm samples from 22 subjects with and without the use of Pre-Seed personal lubricant. The motility, viability, membrane integrity, levels of reactive oxygen species, total antioxidant capacity and percentage of DNA damage were not affected by the use of the lubricant.

In addition 73% of the donors preferred the semen collection using the lubricant.
