donor eggs

Post by jordanab »

Hi there, im using 24 year old donor eggs with no genetic issues- Im 36 with low ovarian reserve. Does anyone have any data on whether or not I should do genetic testing PGS, PGD on the embryos? Im moving forward with an Transfer in a couple weeks- My doc says I shouldnt risk poking the egg again, as the donor is young and has no issues. Anyone have a similar experience?

any thoughts or words of wisdom will help :)

I would agree with your doctor. Although there is a risk of chromosomal abnormalities at any age, the risk in a 24 year old egg donor's eggs should be low.

I think you need to balance the risk of a chromosomal abnormality in this situation (low) with the risk of doing the PGS biopsy (low) and the cost (high).

This really depends on which risk/cost you prefer to take.
