Egg retrieval for surrogacy while on immunosuppressive drugs

Post by Sam123 »

Hi,

I was wondering if you had any experience or advice for my situation.

I have a mixed connective tissue disease and am on mycophenolate/cellcept. We tried a cycle of ivf after coming off the cellcept in favor of rituximab, but we only had one usable embryo which unfortunately was just unsuccessfully transfered into our surrogate this week.

I had a pretty bad disease flare after the retrieval. We thought we could try again but possibly by starting on cellcept. Do you have any idea of this is safe for the baby in terms of risks of defects with mycophenolate?

Thanks so much for your time!

I wish I could give you advice on this but I do not have any experience with this difficult situation. And I do not know of anyone that has enough experience with this to counsel you.
