Hi Dr. Wisot,
I was ramping up for my second IVF cycle (first one did not succeed) but it looks like one of my 4-5 follicles is growing ahead of the rest (I have one measuring 14 while the rest are currently 8's). I'm told we likely won't be able to do IVF this time and will just do an insemination. I am just wondering what would cause that to happen. I was on estrace, Lupron, Follistim, Menopur and Omnitrope. Thanks.
Why would one follicle grow ahead of the rest?
Re: Why would one follicle grow ahead of the rest?
That follicle was probably already advancing when you started. It is called a single dominant follicle and we see it happen even when we give pretreatment with birth control pills or Estrace. Sometimes we just can't stop it.
I hate when that happens.

Thanks that makes me feel better. I was worried I was just resistant to stimulation.
