chromosome 9 inversion

Post by cbla »

Hello. I'm wondering if you have any information on male patients with Chromosome 9 inversion. We have several failed IVFs, most recently we did achieve a pregnancy via IVF but I miscarried around 7 weeks after seeing heartbeat. We had testing done after the D&C and the baby was normal (46 chromosomes) but did have my husband's inversion. I have also had one chemical pregnancy (spontaneous) in the past. Do you consider this a variant or do you find it to cause problems? We are considering IVF again, but now my age has become an issue.

It's the most common inversion seen in humans and because chromosomal material is not added or lost it usually causes no symptoms.

This is too complex an issue to discuss here and you should have a consultation with a genetic counselor if you have not done so already.
