IVF & Acupuncture

Post by hope41 »

Dear Dr. Wisot,

I am a patient at the Reproductive Partners Westminster office. I just turned 41 and had my first IVF last month which was unsuccessful. I luckily do have 2 frozen embryos which I plan to have transferred soon. I am interested in anything that could increase chances for success. I just recently reviewed Dr. Meldrum's advice on supplements on the website. I have already been taking prenatal vit. w/DHA and just started taking pycnogenol, l-arginine, green tea extract. I have heard acupuncture right before and right after IVF can help. What is your opinion on this? I thank you in advance for your response!

Studies have gone back and forth on this: whether there is a benefit to having acupuncture when you are doing IVF. Earlier studies were more positive; more recently not showing much of a effect.

I have thought it may be useful in reducing stress around the very important time of the transfer in patients who are very stressed, and who doing IVF is not stressed.
