Sperm Count Problem

Post by fashionyoulove »

Hi
We have one child and we decided to have another one. My wife did not get pregnant. We decided to go for IVF. My sperm count was very good when I was tested. After we started primary procedure of IVF, I was sent for another sperm count and this time they found zero sperm. Since then I have gone for 5 other sperm tests and they can not absolutly find any sperm. I went from very good sperm count to zero in less than 7-8 months. My doctor does not know what can cause this. During those 8 months I had a sever infection in my testicle and My Urologist put me on heavy antibiotic and IV for 10 days and infection eas gone. Also during those 8 months I started taking generic version of Cialis ( made in India ) occasinally. DO you think these 2 could have had anything to do with zero sper count? More than 1 year is passed that infection and still no sperm.
My doctor suggests Biopsy to do in my testicle. he thinks maybe the sperm tubes are blocked due to infection. He says he wants to try to unblock it and meanwhile if he find any sperm, he will freez them for IVF.
What do you think?

Hi John:

The only scenario that makes sense is the obstruction caused by scarring from the infection. Complete absence of sperm is usually either genetic or obstruction. It's not genetic because you did have a good count at one time.

The doctor will probably find sperm with the biopsy which can be used in IVF with ICSI.

Good luck.
