The Choronic Bump

Post by ivfhope »

Good morning Dr. Wisot:

I recently went in for my six week, five day ultrasound and although I was feeling very confident based on my prior HCG levels (9dp5dt- 239, 11dp5dt- 674 and finally 16dp5dt 9,405), I was shown a chorionic bump. The nurse seemed unconcerned and mentioned that it does happen occasionally, and pointed to the important fact that the baby had a healthy heartbeat of 110bpm. I am obviously still concerned as the information I have found online is very wishy-washy. I am certain you've encountered this before, but is time to relax or do I have a reason to be concerned?

Thank you for your time,
Michelle Z.

I really cannot tell without seeing it but I would be concerned enough to have the doctor take a look at it and give you his/her opinion. Even in the presence of a heartbeat there can be placental abnormalities that can be a concern.
