PGD for gender selection with frozen embryos

Post by a&wmommy »

Hi Dr Wisot -

We've done 2 separate IVF/ICSI cycles with Dr's Yee/Cassidenti/Rosen, and have had 2 successful pregnancies (which we thank you all for...We love our 2 boys!!). From the last IVF cycle, we have 8 embryos remaining which were frozen at the 5-day stage. We are still undecided whether we will try for a third pregnancy, but in the meantime I was wondering whether it is still possible to do PGD for gender selection at this stage, or are we already beyond that point?

Thanks in advance...

Probably beyond that point. There is very limited experience with this as blastocyst biopsy is so new.

But if they are very early blasts it is possible to do the PGD and hopefully get an answer before the embryos are too far advanced. Talk to your doctor to see if this is possible with your embryos.

I did one case like this and the patient did not get pregnant.
