Diminished Ovarian Reserve for younger woman

Post by saewalt »

I have a low AMH (.9) and a high FSH (11.9) but am only 28 years old. Does this mean I have a higher risk of miscarriage and abnormalities like Down's Syndrome?

I have found conflicting information regarding this. Having DOR would normally give me a higher risk, but because I am younger, there may not be a higher risk.

Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels are blood tests used to give us information about a patient's egg reserve. They give information about egg quantity, but not necessarily egg quality. There is a lot of conflicting medical literature about whether or not women with low AMH levels have a higher risk of miscarriage due to fetal aneuploidy (embryos with abnormal chromosomes). Based on the information we have at this point, I wouldn't say that having a low AMH levels puts you at higher risk of miscarriage. I think your young age is to your benefit!
