1st IVF with no normal embryos

Post by kmarta24 »

Hello,
I just did my first IVF cycle. I am 36 years old and my infertility is of tubal origin. I had 16 eggs retrieved, 11 were mature, 8 fertilized but only 2 made it to day 5 blastocyst. They were sent for PGS and both turned out abnormal. Dont have the details yet as far as what the abnormality was. I am not sure if this is fairly normal and I should try again. I was also surprised that more didnt make it to day 5 :(

No normal embryos is one of the most common subjects that I get.

At age 36 one would expect you to do better. You need to sit down with your doctor and find out what can be dome, if anything, to improve your embryos' performance so you have more to test and a greater chance of getting some normal ones to transfer. Only after you cycle has been reviewed thoroughly should you proceed with another.

If you are not happy with the answers, it's time to get a second opinion.
