What does Paritubal Adhesions Mean?

On my HSG report under impression it says
Patent Right Fallopian Tube
Pooling of Contrast in the right hemithorax pelvis consistent with Paritubal Adhesions, what does that mean???

I lost my left ovary when I was 14, and had 3 Ovarian surgeries on my right ovary 1 laparotomy 2 years ago, and 2 laparoscopics. I’m 20 now does that Me natural conception will be impossible for me?

"Peritubal adhesions" means that there is scar tissue outside but near the fallopian tube. They can affect fertility by distorting the tube, not allowing tubal peristalis to propel the sperm to meed the egg and for the egg to travel into the uterus or they can block the end of the tube not allowing the sperm and egg to meet although not closing the tube as in your report they say it is patent. It can create a barrier between the open end of the tube and ovary.

To find out what's really going on they would need to do a laparoscopy to visualize the area.

With all your previous surgeries I am sure you are not anxious for another.

So even though my right Tube is patent it’s still not in good shape enough to the point where fertilization would be impossible?

I’m afraid to do another laprascopic procedure because the last thing I need is more scar tissue

At this point no one knows the real status of that tube. I really understand why you do not want another laparoscopy and I usually do not recommend a laparoscopy in someone who has a history of multiple surgeries.

If a member of my family asked me what to do in this situation, I would be recommending that they try on their own for a year or so and then do IVF. She would have an increased chance of a tubal pregnancy but that can be diagnosed early and usually treated with medication. If she were to put off pregnancy for a long time I would urge her to freeze her eggs.

The best news is you are very young and in reproduction, youth rules. 8-)

With My AMH being 0.65 and FSH 6.5
I feel like I have a lot to worry about even though I’m 20 and barely have 1 ovary :(

I would tell my imaginary relative that perhaps egg freezing would be the best course if she was not planning to try to conceive soon. Then the fact that there is only one ovary and the peritubal adhesions are no longer issues.
