Possibility of conceiving naturally at 43..

I am a 43 year old woman who has never previously conceived due to my own choice. I have a history of uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and irregular periods (since I was in my mid thirties). I am otherwise very healthy, fit and active. My much older boyfriend (he’s 64) and I have discussed having a child in the future but fear it may be too late for both of us. He is healthy and has two grown sons from a previous marriage. What is the possibility that I could actually conceive naturally given the circumstances?

A general answer on this will do you little good without more detailed information than your age. Some blood work and an ultrasound would give a wealth of information about your ovarian reserve and any issues in your pelvis that would be a problem which could give the doctor a real idea of what your chances would be.

This could be done quickly and at not too great an expense. But don't wait if you are seriously considering having a baby as time is not on anybody's side.
