I am currently pregnant from my third IVF retrieval. We did a fresh 3 day transfer. My retrieval was done February 8th and transfer was done on February 11th, which I believe puts me at 5W6D. I went in for my first early ultrasound and the doctor had me down at 6W3D. The gest sac is measuring at 5W3D and the fetal pole is measuring at 5W5D. My doctor didn't really say a lot or so much emotion on how I should feel. Any advice on if my dates or the doctors are wrong or if this would be categorized as a good appointment or if I should be worried that the pregnancy isn't viable? My HCG levels are good. As of yesterday they we at 5755. We didn't see or hear a heart beat. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in Advance.

First, congratulations on being pregnant! That’s very exciting and I can imagine scary at the same time. You are correct that based on the date of your egg retrieval and transfer on March 7th you are 5W6D. Based on your ultrasound measurement and based on your dates being 5w6d, it looks like you are size consistent with dates. The next landmark that you are looking for is cardiac motion. Usually cardiac motion appears at 6 weeks gestation. So I would expect that at your next ultrasound you should see heartbeat. If you don’t that would be more worrisome. Good luck!
