Ovaries hard to see

Post by Frustrated#2 »

I am currently doing my 4th IVF cycle. I did two a few years ago, and have a daughter. We are trying for #2. This time around, every time I go in for an u/s, the RE's tell me my ovaries are very hard to find/see. And sometimes they can't even locate one or the other. There are 3 different RE's in my group, and they all have the same problems. Why could this be? When I had u/s's years ago, every now and then they'd be harder to see, but they always found them. This time, they are nearly impossible, and sometimes they can't even find one. It is very frustrating, and I have no idea what can cause this. Has something changed? Or is this just normal with some patients?

Hi:

Probably something changed like a lengthening of the ligaments that hold the ovary so now they move up higher in the abdomen and are more difficult to see. A substantial weight gain could also cause this.

Good luck.
