Understanding live births per transfer

Post by SoBayAsker »

Hi Dr. Wisot - I'm hoping you could help me understand the "Live Births per Transfer" figure here: http://www.reproductivepartners.com/ivf ... rates.html.

For the younger than 35 years group, does this mean that there were 54 live births for 573 transfers? If so, would my interpretation be correct that for that age group, there's a less than 10% take home baby rate with IVF?

Thank you.

That would mean a success rate of 54% based on live births per transfer over those 5 years.

Thanks, Dr. Wisot, that's great to hear. A thought about the figure, it might be easier to interpret if the title were changed to "2008-2012 Percentage Live Births per Transfer ..." or if the y-axis units and data labels had a percent symbol added. Thanks again.
