Progesterone supplementation in normal pregnancy

Post by Froggie563 »

I have been struggling with infertility for over a year. After months of tests, I finally became pregnant on my own! The doctors however want me to use progesterone suppositories twice daily and prometrium oral once daily for the first trimester even though my progesterone levels are fine. Is this necessary? Or is there harm? I understand it's importance in terms of IVF but since I didn't use any thing this cycle do I need it?

Since I know nothing about you I really can't tell whether you need it or not. You might want to get a formal second opinion from someone who knows all the facts about you since you are concerned.

We generally do not see harm from progesterone supplementation.
