Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis

Post by pawlowskad »

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis. I have had one IVF cycle in which I miscarried a pgs embryo. That cycle I used Crinone and did not have any adverse skin reactions, however had been put on prednisone prior to the transfer as standard protocol.

Have you heard of or had experience with this condition? I am worried that it may have contributed to my miscarriage and that it may happen again.

It is very rare and I personally have never seen a case.

The real fertility question is whether the autoimmune antibody in your case affects the functioning of the progesterone on the endometrium. I think the best way to determine that would be to do a mock cycle with a timed endometrial biopsy 8-9 days after the start of progesterone or an ERA-endometrial receptivity assay to determine the window of implantation. Either of those should be abnormal if the mediator of the allergy is interfering with the progesterone effect.
