46 years old and want to conceive again

Post by Penzfan »

Hi,

I am 46 year old female. I have had two children, they are 16 and 12. I am looking to possibly conceive a third child. My FSH levels were recently tested and it was an 8 and my estradiol level was 94, this was done on day three of my cycle. I have regular periods every 26 to 28 days. I have never skipped a period and was told by doctor that I am pretty far from menopause. Would an R.E. even attempt to do an IUI with my own eggs at this point?

Hello. In general, egg quality diminishes with age, so the chance of conception decreases as we get older.
Some reproductive endocrinologists may do an IUI for you as long as you are aware of the success rates. My suggestion would be to make an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist, so that you can discuss what all of your options are.
