Ivf monitoring

Post by Sunshine1 »

Dear doctor,
I'm considering ivf treatment. How important is it that a doctor does the monitoring ( sono) instead of a nurse or a resident doctor?
Does that impact the success rate as medications/injections will be prescribed depending on the results of the sono, measurement of follicles etc? Can

You will see a variety of ways to monitor patients going through IVF.

At RPMG the doctors do the ultrasounds and then correlate them to the estrogen levels to make decisions. I think that's best because there is nothing as good as seeing the scan yourself to help make decisions.

At some centers, ultrasound techs, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners or nurses do the scans. I don't think that it's as good and since we have historically had good success rates, maybe that's part of the reason.
