low AMH high FSH age 41 -- any chances?

Post by lenadunham »

Two years ago I underwent an IVF due to male factor (my ex-husband’s at the time). I was 39 and 8 months when tests were done: AMH 3.1, FSH 9.5. Then I had an ovarian cyst removed, which turned out to be benign. After recovering, I had the fresh cycle IVF: at that time I was 40 years and 2 months. 9 eggs produced, 8 embryos created with ICSI. All 8 lived to day 5. Two embryos were transferred – none took. Two other embryos were frozen. Then, when I was 40 years and 4 months, I had a FET cycle, using the two frozen embryos. I got pregnant, but had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I then finalized the divorce, and the next month I got naturally pregnant with the new husband – the fetus turned out to have a down, and I had to get an abortion. Now, at 41 years and 6 months tests were done: AMH 0.5, FSH 15.4. Does that mean I have no chance of IVF succeeding?

It's not promising but does not mean that there is no chance. An aggressive stimulation protocol, taking any embryos produced to blastocyst and doing PGS is the only way to get a definitive answer, especially after your history of a miscarriage after the FET and the Down Syndrome.

Unfortunately I cannot make specific recommendation about protocols here but any RE should be able to presecribe an aggressive protocol with your age and numbers.
