How does stress impact pregnancy?
Hi, i was wondering what are the effects of stress on a pregnancy during the first trimester? In particular, I am concerned about a hostile work environment compounded by dealing with mission critical work processes (e.g. High pressure). I just went through a miscarriage and wonder if stress could have had anything to do with it. I am also pregnant again (4wks) and am very concerned. Thank you!

Nobody really knows the impact of stress on pregnancy and usually there is not a lot you can do to eliminate this type of stress without doing something radical like quitting your job and without any real documentation of it causing harm that's probably too much. You could try some stress reducers like some light exercise, acupuncture or yoga. But realize that most miscarriages occur because of a problem in the pregnancy and not outside influences. Before legal abortion women tried all sorts of things to cause a miscarriage in an unwanted pregnancy (talk about stress) and it just doesn't work.
