Hello, I am 12 days late for my projected period. I took a pregnancy test which came out negative yesterday. For more than a week I have have mild nausea which lasts most of the day, tender breasts ( but not painful), once a strange hot sensation on my scalp, constipation and the last 2 days diarrhea, and tiredness. Is it possible to still be pregnant even if the result was negative in a hpt? Thank you

Home pregnancy tests look for human chorionic gonadotropin, the pregnancy hormone, in urine. The accuracy of these tests can vary based on the brand you use. Some tests will pick up a level as low as 10 mIU/mL, but others won't turn positive until the level is much higher. Since you're having some pregnancy symptoms, I would recommend that you contact your physician regarding getting a blood pregnancy test. The blood tests are more accurate than urine. If your blood test is negative, your physician can also help you sort out the symptoms you're having.
