hormone tests

Are hormone blood tests (FSH, E2, LH) still considered reliable if they are done on CD 4? I was not able to do them during the weekend, but do not want to wait until the next month. I'm doing these tests on my own (Direct Labs order).

repeat HSG

Is it undesirable to repeat the HSG test, because of the radiation? I had one three years ago, and another one this week.

variable cycle length

My cycle now varies in length, mostly around 28 days, but sometimes ranges between 22 days and 42 days between periods.
In a 22-day long cycle, was it possible for the ovulation to have happened in the preceding month?
I am in my early 40s.

high E2 on Day 3

If estradiol is 110 pg/ml (higher than normal 25-75pg/ml) on cycle day 3, is the only reason due to ovarian cysts producing estrogen, or are there other possible reasons? Can you tell me what else may lead to an increased level of E2?

Thank you!

Re: midcycle LH, E2

Can I do anything now to boost the level of E2 to make the ovulation happen?

If not, does it mean that I won't ovulate despite the good level of LH?

Thanks.

midcycle LH, E2

I'm trying to understand how to interpret the variation of hormones in a cycle. So, this is my 14th cycle day, and my LH is 23.2 miu/ml, and estradiol is 115.0 pg/ml. Is this enough to deduce that I ovulated or am about to ovulate? I know an ultrasound would be a better means, but I am unable to hav...

Re: positive OPK; no ovulation

Thank you, Dr. Wisot. I appreciate your response. I know you cannot say why I do not ovulate based on this information only. But I was hoping you can tell me some possible reasons that a reliable brand of OPK would turn falsely positive. You said a positive can come from some other factor. Can you t...

Re: positive OPK; no ovulation

As I indicated in my question, I am monitored by ultrasound, sometimes also by checking the progesterone level a week after the +OPK. For example, I got a +OPK (ClearBlue digital) on April 23. Nine days later I had an ultrasound that showed no corpus luteum, no any other signs that ovulation has eit...

positive OPK; no ovulation

I am having problems with OPK test kits (Clearblue digital is what I use). I used to detect ovulation regularly (it would be confirmed by an ultrasound, or later with a progesterone test), but not anymore. Now I am either 1) getting a positive OPK result (after days of negatives), but no actual ovul...

Re: Progesterone supplements and ovulation

Thanks so much for your answers. I would like to know what questions would be good to ask my doctor (I don't live in California), so I really appreciate your insight. My hormone levels varied wildly over the last 3 years, which is how long I have been tested for them. FSH was around 20 three years a...
