Ovidrel on day 7?

Post by Renate » Wed Apr 20, 2016 2:28 pm

Hi, I am on cycle day 7 of a donor egg IVF cycle(I am the recipient) and I have been taking Estrofem since day 2 and Cetrotide since day 5. My doctor gave me Ovidrel today and told me to take it this evening. The donor egg retrieval is on day 12(Monday). Does this sound right? I'm confused as to why the Dr. would want me to ovulate now or at all seeing as I am using donor eggs and then continue the Cetrotide for 3 more days according to my protocol. Thanks!

Hello. Without knowing more details about your cycle and your donor's cycle, it's difficult to answer your question. It's possible that Ovidrel isn't being used to promote ovulation in your case, but instead to support your future pregnancy. Ovidrel, which acts the same as hcg, can be used for luteal support for a pregnancy. I would recommend that you speak with your reproductive endocrinologist to see if they can better answer your questions. Best of luck.
