risks

Post by dundun »

I'm new to the whole concept of egg freezing and trying to learn as much as possible. After doing some research, i read that there are some risks involved with the medication provided before the egg freezing procedure. Can you elaborate on this and any other health risks and dangers of egg freezing. Also is CGH done with each egg at your clinic? Lastly, have there been successes with live births from egg freezing at your clinic? Thank you so much for your time.

Hi:

All good questions.

The major theoretical risk is from ovarian hyperstimulation. But that usually does not occur unless someone becomes pregnant so it's more of a risk in a live IVF cycle. Also by using Lupron to trigger rather than hCG, the risk can be virtually eliminated.

There do not appear to be any other health risks from the stimulation; just the very small risk of a complication like bleeding, infection or injury to other organs from the retrieval procedure, but fortunately those are rare.

We have had successes with live births from our LA/OC lab in Redondo.
