PCOS/ high testosrone / options

Post by tiffany »

I am 31 and i have been with my husband for almost 16 years now. I have never been pregnant, so at the age of 27 i went to my gyno to find out what was going on. she diagnosed me with pcos. She said i have high testostorone.
Even thouigh i have regular periods, no cysts, not insulin resistant, tubes are clear, and hubby is above average we still can not get pregnant. She put me on clomid for 6 months and nothing... Im ready to take the next step but i have no idea where to begin or what to expect. Everything is completely normal except my testostrone levels which causes me to have excess hair.. What would be my options or next steps? Im so lost :(

Hi:

You really don't fit the definition of PCOS which requires irregular periods and is usually associated with insulin resistance.

I don't know how extensive your workup has been but I think another opinion from a real fertility specialist might make things more clear. There are lots of issues that need to be checked.

Good luck.

Thank you soo much for your response.

I have had all the basic blood tests.
thyroid
gloucouse
testostrone ...etc..etc...

I have had my tubes checked, vaginal ultra sound and seamen analysis for my husband.

Everything has been normal except my testostrone levels. My periods are regular 32-34 days always!
I am over weight by about 50lbs and have been heavy my entire life. I also have a lot of axiety issues as well which started about 8 years ago.

My gyno wasnt very "into" getting me pregnant.. she just didnt really take the time with me at all and it was an unpleasant experience. She did however assure me she was certain my weight and axiety were not a factor.

Do you think i should make an appointment to come in for a cosultation? Would i have to pay for all the same tests again since its been 3 1/2 years since i had the tests done? I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post. I cant find much info online

Hi:

You need to go beyond a GYN for this issue. I would suggest you come in and if you get all the records of all the tests that have been done it is unlikely we will have to repeat much. So gather your records.

This is not something that general information on the Internet will help with. You need specifics.
