Hey Dr. Wisot,
First of all thanks so much for doing this!!!
I had a quick question. My husband's sperm count is below 1m (it's around 800,000). I had missed my period but figured it was due to stress, because we didn't think natural pregnancy is possible - I just took a few pregnancy tests and they're all positive. When I called my doctor, they said I'm 8 weeks and I'm having an ultrasound in a few days.
Anyways, I'm still in shock and was wondering - What are the chances of a pregnancy happening with this low of sperm count? Is it possible?
Thank you so much
Cassie
Pregnancy Question for Dr. Wisot
Re: Pregnancy Question for Dr. Wisot
The chances of pregnancy based on sperm count is exactly that: a chance. As long as there are viable sperm there is a chance. With a count of less than a million the chance would be very low so consider yourself lucky.
In fact with that luck, rush out and buy Powerball tickets for tonight's drawing. But if you win you have to share with me.
